Fear Spills
Occasionally, a bird might stumble, unwittingly, into a dirty, polluted body of water contaminated by an off-shore oil spill.
Are we to be mad at this bird, for appearing ugly as it struggles to shake itself clean of those toxins that attached to it, without its consent or knowing?
Are we to scoff at the bird for not flying high in the sky where we can take its picture to adorn our wall?
And if we come close, with intent to help clean it, and it recoils and frantically flaps its wings both in defense and to remove the slime and some of the gunk is flung onto our clothes...are we to be angry at the bird for its indiscretion?
